Residential Director

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and passionate Residential Director to implement and manage an individualized daily living support program in a private residence in Madison, Wisconsin for a young man on the autism spectrum. It is preferred (but not required) that the Residential Director live in the residence. This position is a full-time, salaried position, reporting to the legal guardians of the supported individual. An employment commitment of two years minimum is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supported by a staff of 2-3 direct support professionals (“DSP”), this position is responsible for overseeing, implementing and managing all aspects of an individualized daily living support program in a private residential setting, including (i) participating in the recruitment and selection of DSP staff, (ii) managing the DSP staff in the daily implementation of the support program, (iii) medication administration, (iv) managing the upkeep of the private residence, and (v) coordinating the delivery of services by healthcare and other service providers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, special education, psychology or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with young adults with developmental disabilities, ideally autism and ADHD

  • Specialized training in medication administration

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal disability laws

  • Proficiency in augmentative communication devices is a plus

  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of service providers

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license with proof of insurance

  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within 3 months of hire

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The chosen candidate will be required to complete and pass a criminal background and Child Protective Services Registry check, and undergo a driving record check and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer.

STARTING SALARY

$50-60,000 per year plus benefits, commensurate with skills and experience.
